Stretch Gorilla

Following 5 really solid trades my total bank was up to £6.60. I was keen to spend as much as possible on an item in the hope that it would return a bigger profit once sold.

With this in mind I shortlisted a fair few toys that were at the top end of my budget. Unusually I didn’t shortlist a toothbrush, though I did consider a multiple nail file/scissors set for babies. I did look at spam as an option, I could stretch to 2 tins to make the postage more economical, and it was the kind of thing (like marmite) that has a cult following and people may try and source online if they can’t buy locally. Similarly with the twinkies I thought there may be a market for the US treat online.

There did look to be small margins for spam and twinkies, but there wasn’t enough of a history of sales to convince me to buy them. Instead I opted for a Stretch Palz Gorilla – who doesn’t love a big stretch gorilla?

Unfortunately this turned out to be a mistake, whilst at £13.99 the item sold for the most of any to date by £4, overall I ended up with a 1p loss. The oversight on my part was the increased postage cost. Up until now I hadn’t paid more than £2.70 in postage, but the size of this item increased this cost to £5.46.

A loss, but not catastrophic, and some key learnings on postage to take forward to my next purchase.
