Spontex Mop

A small step back on the last trade, but some good learning around postage price killing the margin. I returned to the shops looking for some new things to shortlist.

At this point it felt like I was seeing and shortlisting very similar items each time. Which is why I was delighted to see a Spontex mop reduced to £6 in a clearance aisle. Looking online this was a significant reduction in cost, and highlights the kind of bargains you can get from high street stores when they have limited stock left that they are looking to clear quickly.

The Spontex turned out to be an absolute gem of a sale. £6 purchase price, with a £24.99 sale price! It was big and the postage was expensive (£5.76), but none of this mattered, after fees I netted £8.94 profit! This overly doubled my £6.59 bank going in to £15.53.

The critical thing here was I find a one off product at a crazy price, the profit was locked in as soon as I bought it. Whilst this isn’t repeatable every time, keeping a look out for these end of line items has to be a strategy moving forwards. For now it feels like the project is starting to move, and I’m buzzing about the getting back on with another trade.
